The highly anticipated collaboration between Converse and UNDERCOVER has dropped, and it’s not one to miss. Showing up briefly at Paris Fashion Week, the tight collection of Chuck Taylor 70s has only been an Instagram fever dream, until now.
Pairing Undercover’s binary themed design from Japanese creative Jun Takahashi and the classic shape of the Chuck 70s low top, the Converse X Undercover collection features four differing colourways of yellow, black, red and white with a simple inscription adorning the toe cap declaring “ORDER” or “DISORDER”.
Founded in 1993 by Jun Takahashi, Undercover quickly became a major streetwear label with influential fashion friends, like Bathing Ape and Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo. With Rei’s mentoring, Undercover began showing its collection at Paris Fashion Week in the early 2000s, this quickly transformed the brand from a small streetwear collection to Avant Garde fashion favourites.
Described as a “punk” label by many, Takahashi’s Undercover is a streetwear brand that doesn’t like to be clearly defined, and with each season delivering a sometimes-upside-down version of streetwear fashion that looks ingeniously complicated, yet effortlessly timeless and ready for the street.
Taking creative cues from Japanese 70s sci-fi TV and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Converse and Undercover have created a sneaker collection that distinctively carries an A.I, futuristic vibe in its design. In an easy-to-wear vintage canvas, the Converse X Undercover Chuck Taylor 70 collaboration features a hard-shell contrast toe cover, tonal cotton laces and branded sock liner.
