Marmot
Founded in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1974, Marmot is an American sporting goods and outdoor apparel brand. UC Santa Cruz students David Huntley and Eric Reynolds linked up with Tom Boyd to found the company Marmot Mountain Works. They immediately sold 108 top-notch parkas to the Clint Eastwood production of The Eiger Sanction, filmed in Switzerland.
Popular among hikers and mountaineers, Marmot became known for its high-quality outdoor equipment, including the classic Mammoth Parkas and Biggie jackets. Marmot rain jackets were one of the first jackets to feature waterproof Gore-Tex technology. Next to its outerwear offerings, Marmot also became known for its top-quality outdoor camping gear, such as sleeping bags and tents.
