Goretex

Gore-Tex is a technical fabric that was created by Wilbert, Genevieve and Bob Gore in Delaware. Obsessed with the untapped potential of polymer polytetrafluoroethylene, Wilbert Gore left his day job in 1958 to focus on the material. In 1969, Wilbert’s son Bob created expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, which proves to be a strong, microporous material. In 1976, the first commercial orders were placed for Gore-Tex jackets. Gore-Tex was the first breathable, waterproof and windproof fabric on the market and the fabric was soon embraced by technical outdoor companies like Arc’teryx, Patagonia and The North Face. Above all, Gore-Tex is known to be the top-of-the-line choice when looking for weather-proof clothing. For decades, fashionable folk and gorpheads alike have looked at garments, seen the Gore-Tex label and let out a sigh of relief, as they knew it could handle anything.
