Kolor Men's Raincoats

Kolor is a Japanese menswear label founded in 2004. Founded by Junichi Abe, the label has close ties to cult-favorite label Sacai. Kolor’s founder Abe, graduated from Japan’s prestigious Bunka Fashion College and previously worked for Yohji Yamamoto and Comme des Garçons. He is the husband of Chitose Abe (neé Sakai,) who founded the Sacai fashion label in 1999 after working for both Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo and Junya Watanabe. While the Sacai brand is known for its unorthodox viewpoints and chunky knitwear inspired garb, the Kolor line is its more pared back counterpoint. Kolor is known for its unconventional takes on traditional menswear pieces. Kolor shorts are made in surprising textiles and unexpected colorways. Kolor footwear crafted in muted tones with bright color accents are everyday mainstays for design-oriented wearers. Collaborations such as Kolor x Adidas have broadened the label’s footwear offerings. While the history of Kolor and Sacai is extremely intertwined, the designer duo do not collaborate on the brands. Famously, the couple has never attended each other’s runway shows. While both Kolor and Sacai share precise attention to detail and an almost devout appreciation for texture and fabric compositions, each brand highlights the individual designer’s vision of artful living and dress.
