Seller Description
Designed by renowned Japanese designer Issey Miyake for Sony in 1981, this vest originated from a vision by Sony chairman Akio Morita, who believed company uniforms should reflect the modern era and be worn with pride. The collaboration resulted in a lightweight, comfortable vest that became an iconic example of corporate fashion design.
The project is also notable for inspiring Steve Jobs during a visit to Japan in the early 1980s. Impressed by Sony's uniforms, Jobs later approached Miyake to create a similar vest concept for Apple.
This example remains in good used condition, retaining its functionality and historical significance as a rare piece linking Sony, Apple, and one of Japan's most influential designers.
