Dries Van Noten, one of the most successful members of the famous design school alumni - the Antwerp Six (including Martin Margiela), launched his own collection in 1986.

His intellectual aesthetic took the international fashion scene by storm for the first time when he and other graduates of the Royal Academy of Antwerp rented a truck in 1986 and showed at London Fashion Week. Since then, Mr. van Noten has preserved his independent spirit and nurtured the creative integrity of his design process and his aesthetics.

Van Noten is the third generation of his family working in fashion. Both his father and his grandfather were tailors. In 1970 his father opened a boutique on the outskirts of Antwerp and sold Emmanuel Ungaro, Salvatore Ferragamo and Ermenegildo Zegna. His father's business led Van Noten to the men's fairs in Milan, Dusseldorf and Paris. These experiences brought him closer to both the commercial and technical sides of the industry, leading him to realize he was more interested in design.

He was awarded the CFDA International Designer of the Year Award in 2008 and was awarded the "Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" in July 2014. An exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris with its designs and influences was opened the same year.
