LEVI'S VINTAGE CLOTHING 2003ss 1918s 501 Celebration Jean "Homer Campbell"
Size W33 L36 - please refer to measurements, fits smaller!
1918 501 Celebration Denim from the Levi's Vintage Clothing 2003 SS Collection, limited to 501 pieces worldwide. It is one of the LVC signature models of the past and is as rare as the Nevada released in 2000. This is a model from the LVC Europe line before it became the current worldwide unified collection, and there were very few domestic distribution volumes at that time. It was released in 2003 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the brand's birth.
This model is a reproduction of an actual pair stored in the Levi's Archives in San Francisco, and is known overseas as "Homer Campbell" denim.
A very elaborate repair process has been carried out by hand throughout. The layers of patches are layered with a distressed finish, and although the fabric itself is thin at about 10 ounces, the layered patches give it a heavy and heavy finish. The cinch back has been removed and the hem is rolled up and sewn together. The silhouette is a painter's straight with a deep rise, and other details include single needle stitching, suspender buttons, genuine leather patches, patent rivets, white selvedge denim, and a handwritten serial number.
Mr. Homer Campbell, a coal miner who purchased 501 in Arizona in 1917, sent it back to Levi's three years later in 1920, complaining that the denim was not durable. This is a model that faithfully reproduces that denim. The denim that was sent back to him had been repaired many times by him, but the fabric itself remained in very good condition.
I took a bunch of photos of all the beautiful details, but Grailed is limited to 25 photos, so if you want photos of anything specific, feel free to reach out!
