Issey Miyake introduced the Fête line in 2004 to translate his revolutionary permanent garment-pleating techniques into elegant, festive occasion wear. Miyake's innovative process involved sewing garments at two to three times their intended size before applying heat and pressure to create permanent, flexible pleats. The Fête collection achieved widespread appreciation for merging architectural drape with effortless functional comfort. Because the Fête diffusion imprint was produced for only a limited period during the 2000s, surviving pieces in pristine condition are increasingly sought after by archival fashion collectors.
