Today I am glad to bring y’all the second iteration from my favorite collection of all time, Undercover’s Spring/Summer 2020 “I Hold a Beast, An Anger, and A Madman In Me”. The collection was draped in black and included clothing that featured Nosferatu as the main reference alongside the Cindy Sherman garments. The pieces centered around Cindy Sherman’s work focused on her famous Untitled Film Stills which were a group of photos that were a take on how women were characterized into stereotypes and references much of what was popular in 50’s and 60’s Hollywood. The particular still referenced for this sweater was Untitled Film Still #26 from 1979. It is a black and white photo of a women in a plain, white dress who appears to be frightened whilst posing on the stairwell of a brick building. The photo translates beautifully onto the sweater as the darker background is lost in the threads and only the girl and parts of the brick remain, leaving an ominous looking graphic. As is per usual for Jun Takahashi’s Undercover, the sweater is constructed beautifully even down to the tags. The 100% cotton construction is incredibly comfortable on body and the two pockets on the sides are a nice touch that are usually absent from sweaters. The Cindy Sherman artwork on the chest is contrasted by the logo embroidery across the shoulder blades, which is also sewn in onto a tag on the wrist. It comes in at a size 4 which fits TTS large and is in perfect condition aside from the neck tag that had a loose thread, but I was able to repair it and is no longer a problem.
