• Intended Use: Originally issued to Combat Vehicle Crewmen (CVC) such as tank crews, though they were also frequently utilized by Army Aviation / Helicopter crews due to their fire-retardant properties and comfortable short silhouette.

Unique Design Features

• Rear Velcro Pass-Through: The back features a distinct hidden Velcro slit (often referred to as an emergency extraction strap opening). This allowed a crew member to be pulled out of a hatch or disabled vehicle using their internal harness without needing to remove the jacket.
• Storage Pockets: Includes two large, angled hand-warmer pockets with flap closures on the waist, alongside a zippered utility/pen pocket stitched onto the left sleeve.
• Insulated Build: Elasticized ribbed knit waistbands and wrist cuffs retain body heat, making it an excellent cold-weather protective layer.
• Insignia Layout: This particular jacket features a 1st Infantry Division ("The Big Red One") insignia patch on the right sleeve, a specialized triangular unit/armor patch on the left sleeve, and a large black loop-Velcro patch on the left breast for a custom name tape or branch tag.
