This Rick Owens DRKSHDW Oversized Hoodie from FW24 Porterville looks like a black uniform that has survived atmospheric re-entry. Its midweight cotton is first garment-dyed black, then subjected to a two-step tie-dye and degradation process before Terra orange is sprayed across the surface, creating the collection’s SUN treatment. Because the process develops irregularly, every hoodie carries its own scorched pattern.

That treatment feels almost autobiographical within Porterville. Rick named the collection after the judgmental California town he spent his youth longing to escape, retreating instead into opera, fantasy novels and Frank Frazetta worlds populated by creatures he remembered as “weird but noble.” The SUN hoodie feels like something brought back from that imaginary escape route, familiar DRKSHDW black burned open to reveal rust, fire and earth underneath.
