Proenza Schouler
Proenza Schouler was founded in 2002 in New York by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernanadez. The two met while studying at Parsons School of Designs and collaborated on their senior thesis collection, naming it after their mothers’ maiden names. The collection was bought by Barneys New York, providing the young designers with perhaps the best cosign a brand could have at the time. Proenza Schouler has won multiple CFDA awards since its inception, including three Womenswear designer of the year awards. In 2008, Proenza Schouler launched its first handbag collection, which included the PS1, arguably the brand’s most popular item to date. Proenza Schouler’s collaboration with Birkenstock was also a big success for the New York based brand. After two decades and counting, Proenza Schouler is best known for its tops, bottoms and accessories. Be sure to keep an eye on Grailed as more items from one of New York’s finest womenswear brands get listed.
