Marc Buchanan

Marc Buchanan is an American designer and entrepreneur best known for founding the leather jacket brand Pelle Pelle in 1978. Since then, Buchanan has been at the forefront of American hip-hop fashion, dressing icons like Will Smith and The Notorious B.I.G. during the mid-to late 1990s.

Buchanan started designing clothes in high school, founding his first brand, Gandolf & Company, in 1971. After several years of Gandolf, Buchanan started Pelle Pelle (Pelle meaning leather in Italian) and became wildly successful in the emerging hip-hop fashion market, comparable to brands like Avirex, Ecko, Phat Farm and Sean John. Marc Buchanan's leather jackets were known for their premium quality, colorful designs and intricate details. While the brand's popularity waned in the 2000s, Buchanan and Pelle Pelle still produce his signature jackets, with a vast and vibrant vintage market of Marc Buchanan leather coats to match.
