D.A.R.E Men's Outerwear
D.A.R.E. is an American anti-drug campaign started in 1983 by Los Angeles Police Department Chief Daryl Gates and the Los Angeles Unified School District. An acronym for "Drug Abuse Resistance Education," D.A.R.E. was most prominent in the 1980s and 1990s, with programs covering 75% of American schools. While the program was designed to be anti-crime, with the logo saying "D.A.R.E. to resist drugs and violence," the message was quickly appropriated to become part of popular culture and fashion. D.A.R.E. t-shirts became widely popular in the 1990s, ironically worn by drug dealers and users as well as punks and other members of counterculture movements. Next to the iconic t-shirts, the organization also produced jackets, sweaters and accessories.
