Cav Empt Nike
Japanese science fiction meets American sportswear with Cav Empt X Nike. The Tokyo-based streetwear label linked up with Nike in 2019 on a collection that featured a long-sleeve jersey, golf jacket, tracksuit, trail cap and two Air Max 95s with digi camo prints, which almost instantly sold out.
Cav Empt was founded in 2011 by British-born Toby Feltwell, Hishiyama Yutaka and the graphic designer who goes by the name of SK8THING. Cav Empt is named after a tattoo in the Philip K. Dick book Ubik, and stands for Caveat Emptor (Latin for "buyer beware"). Obscure references like these often return in Cav Empts collections and the same goes for the collection with Nike. Besides the Digi Camo AM95s, the stand-out piece is the Cav Empt X Nike jacket, which features a half-button vest design featuring one of SK8THINGS' graphics on the back.
