Can you imagine the wonderful conversations you will have when your friends come over and see this displayed in your home??
About Reederang: My bags are the antidote for the poly-lined synthetic leather run-of-the-mill bags being produced in China. Most of my bags are full-grain leather; Artisan crafts, with authentic distressed character, and many with modifications unique to our line. We only use high-grade men's belts for shoulder straps. This leather is reminiscent of equestrian leather halter straps. I also use half-centimeter-thick mooseskin. Nothing wimpy here; quality and character that stands out and stands the test of a truly rugged lifestyle. Invest in a bag that you'll love more and more over time. Not all leather bags are created the same. A great quality leather bag is supposed to look better with time as the leather acquires marks and age-related wear. Make sure to check out my whole store. At the time of this listing, I have 180 items all unique and different. Many with added Mooseskin handles; my "trademark" unique idea. Once you have tried it you will wonder how you functioned before without an inside handle. Also on many of my briefcases, I add a mooseskin handle wrap. The handle is the point of contact that the owner has with their bag and mooseskin is so pleasing to touch. My philosophy in writing descriptions is: a picture speaks 1000 words. So please look at the pictures and email me with any questions. That said, here is my description:
A good friend of mine found this treasure while traveling in Japan a number of years ago. When he showed it to me, I was stunned. The craftsmanship is completely amazing. Leather, wood, copper, and brass are its ingredients. Can you imagine the number of days it took the master craftsman to make this treasure? I have never seen so many pounded copper rivets in one vintage piece.
This historical trunk would make a great coffee table in a New York City loft (either by itself or with a slab of glass as shown in my example photo). It would also make a great cabin decorative piece. If you are a descendant of Shotaro Kojima, an ambassador to Japan, it would be a must-have. I could see this great piece as a prop for a Macy's window in NYC or another upscale department store. It is a complete one-of-a-kind!
Some details:
The measurements are in inches approximately: 36L x 22D x12H
This piece does not have a key. And as such, the clasp has intentionally not been closed.
I like all of the wonderful travel stickers. I wish this was still a thing. Hotels and airlines are giving out uniquely designed stickers for you to display and show everybody how well traveled you were.
Stickers featured on this piece of history are:
Hotel Metropole Bruxelles: The Hotel Metropole Brussels was a 5-star luxury hotel located on the Place de Brouckère/De Brouckèreplein in central Brussels, Belgium. Built and opened to customers in 1895, it was the only 19th-century hotel still in operation in Brussels in the twenty-first century until it closed its doors in April 2020 after 125 years of continuous operation. The hotel had 251 rooms and 22 spacious suites.
Palast Hotel Hamburg: I could find no information on it on DuckDuckGo, but it was a chain hotel with other Palast Hotels in cities like Berlin.
Hotel in Marseille, France, Rue Noailles-Cannebière
France, CANNES: Hotel Mont-Fleuri in the French Riviera: From what I found online, it was one that was in existence in the 1880s, and the postcard I saw showed it was a magnificent hotel.
There are others, but I cannot make out the details as they overlap or are missing pieces.
In addition, there is a crest of some kind. Maybe a family crest with 4 diamonds and two olive branches. These are painted on the case and were likely part of the custom case when it was constructed.
