【OVERVIEW】
This Yohji Yamamoto black pleated skirt pants are made from a triacetate and polyester blend, presenting the brand’s signature sense of fluidity, layered structure, and gender-neutral silhouette.

The fabric has a subtle matte sheen and a smooth hand feel, with a beautiful natural drape. Compared with heavier wool skirt pants, this piece feels visually lighter and softer. When worn, the fabric opens and moves naturally with each step, allowing the black surface to reveal rich depth through the pleats and shadows.

The silhouette combines the language of wide trousers and a pleated skirt. The inner construction retains the practicality of pants, while the outer layer is covered with wide pleated panels. Clear vertical pleats can be seen from both the front and back. When standing still, it reads almost like a clean black midi skirt; in motion, the inner trouser structure and layered fabric panels become visible, creating a shape somewhere between hakama, skirt pants, and wide culottes.

The waist features belt loops, a button closure, and adjustable details, keeping the piece functional as trousers while giving the overall shape more variation through the pleated outer panels. The design is visually complete from both the front and back, rather than being decorative on only one side.

This piece is suitable for those who appreciate Yohji Yamamoto’s black palette, skirt-pants silhouettes, voluminous lower-body proportions, and gender-neutral layered styling. It can be worn simply with a clean shirt, cropped top, or sleeveless vest for a sharp, minimal look. Tuxedo fabric is a common name given by Yohji Co., Ltd. itself, more accurately de Chine fabric.
de Chine uses sweet and strong lines for dense braiding, which is characterized by a fine texture on the surface.
The braided structure is different from the wool wardar. (Wrinkle gabarle is diagonal tissue, de Chine is plain tissue)
Therefore, the surface of decene is smoother, thinner, and feels smoother than GABA.
The Dehine fabric has higher instantaneous strength and agility and therefore also features a more dynamic movement
When the material moves, the air flows more easily and does not become viscous even when sweating.

In the summer months, de Chine seems more comfortable
Both have textured and relatively easy-to-move material on their surfaces.
Although there is a slight difference in gloss, it is within the acceptable range if considered as “depth and variation in black performance”.
