【OVERVIEWS】
This pleated long skirt carries the sense of fluidity, layered structure, and gender-neutral skirt-pants language often associated with the Yohji Yamamoto lineage.

The skirt is made from triacetate fabric, with a soft, silk-like natural sheen on the surface. The material is not overly heavy, yet it has excellent drape and a smooth hand feel, allowing the black fabric to reveal subtle shadow variations under the light. When worn, it naturally creates clean vertical lines, balancing sharpness and softness within the overall silhouette.

The silhouette opens into large pleats from slightly below the waist. These pleats are not merely decorative, but serve as the main structure controlling the volume and movement of the skirt. When still, the outline appears clean and orderly; when in motion, the pleats open and shift with each step, giving the black fabric a richer sense of movement and depth.

The front features a button closure, with the central panel slightly overlapping to create a skirt-pants-like structure. The row of buttons at the front functions not only as a practical detail, but also as a visual accent, giving the skirt a more androgynous and refined Yohji Yamamoto character compared to a standard plain pleated skirt.

Both sides also feature buttoned slits, allowing the wearer to adjust the drape and opening of the skirt. When fully fastened, the silhouette feels composed and stable; when partially unbuttoned, the fabric gains more movement and layered depth at the sides, allowing the same piece to take on different styling expressions.

The inside of the waist is reinforced with a larger cotton panel, helping the upper part of the skirt form a more dimensional and voluminous silhouette rather than falling flat. The waist is finished with a drawstring, allowing subtle size adjustment and making the piece feel more wearable in daily styling, rather than existing purely as a conceptual garment.

The strength of this skirt lies in its combination of the orderliness of pleats, the fluidity of a long skirt, and the gender-neutral skirt-pants silhouette often found in Yohji Yamamoto’s design language. Whether styled with an oversized shirt, long jacket, cropped outerwear, boots, or leather shoes, it creates a composed, sharp, and weighty black silhouette. Rather than feeling sweet or feminine, it reads more as a Yohji-style long skirt with structure, movement, and layered depth.

Tuxedo fabric is a common name given by Yohji Co., Ltd. itself, more accurately de Chine fabric.
de Chine uses sweet and strong lines for dense braiding, which is characterized by a fine texture on the surface.
The braided structure is different from the wool wardar. (Wrinkle gabarle is diagonal tissue, de Chine is plain tissue)
Therefore, the surface of decene is smoother, thinner, and feels smoother than GABA.
The Dehine fabric has higher instantaneous strength and agility and therefore also features a more dynamic movement
When the material moves, the air flows more easily and does not become viscous even when sweating.

In the summer months, de Chine seems more comfortable
Both have textured and relatively easy-to-move material on their surfaces.
Although there is a slight difference in gloss, it is within the acceptable range if considered as “depth and variation in black performance”.
