Seller Description
An exceptional piece of fraternal history. This is an authentic Knights Templar (Masonic Order) ceremonial dress coat, originating from the Mount Hermon Commandery in Pennsylvania.
Historical Context:
The Knights Templar is a fraternal organization affiliated with Freemasonry. These coats were worn during formal ceremonies and parades, designed to evoke the spirit of medieval chivalry with 19th and 20th-century military tailoring.
Key Features:
Embroidery: Beautifully aged bullion thread embroidery on the left sleeve reading "Mount Hermon, Pennsylvania."
Collar Insignia: Features the iconic Knights Templar "Cross Pattée" patches on both lapels, intricately woven with gold bullion and red thread.
Construction: A heavy-duty, high-quality black wool (or heavy serge) double-breasted frock coat style.
Details: Features structured shoulders and classic ceremonial tailoring typical of mid-century fraternal regalia.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with a desirable aged patina. The wool shows some minor signs of wear consistent with age (please see photos for close-ups of the embroidery and fabric). A rare find for collectors of Masonic regalia, Pennsylvania history, or unique archival fashion.
