The calfskin exterior is wrapped in canvas, then coated with white paint to ensure better adhesion. The result is a texture distinctly different from paint applied directly to leather.

“Paint” is one of the most inescapable concepts in Martin Margiela’s vocabulary — the interplay of whites in various textures forms a core pillar of his design philosophy.

From the 2000s, Martin Margiela era painted series. Each piece was hand-painted by members of the Margiela team at the time after production, giving it a white soul. Every piece has its own unique details. Only a small number were made — exceptionally rare.
