Since Alessandro Michele took the reigns of Gucci in 2015, the fashion house has taken a very successful turn for the strange, oddball and maximalist. As part of this Gucci continues to release limited edition collectors art books in collaboration with and created by some of todays most influential and directional creators:

GUCCI BY HARMONY KORINE - PRE FALL 2019

As a stroke of genius, Gucci enlisted director Harmony Korine – a man not adverse to an out-there creative vision – to create a limited-edition book to accompany its pre-fall 2019 collection. Featuring demon dogs, spooky flying spirits and some pretty trippy colour inversions, Harmony shot the images of the 70s-inspired collection at the UNESCO World Heritage sites, Pompeii and the Herculaneum ruins.

He also illustrated, cropped and distorted the images for the limited-edition book, drawing both its cover image and a picture that has been used across the books’ spines. (You would need to buy 5 books to see the full images across the spines!!)

The famed film director, artist and screenwriter—who recently wrote and directed ‘The Beach Bum,’ a film featuring Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg—captured Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection by Alessandro Michele.

In the images, models are snacking away in refined velvet tailoring, richly decorated ready-to-wear pieces and 70s inspired accessories.

Chosen by Alessandro Michele as part Gucci’s commitment to promote artistic and cultural heritage across the world, the collection appears among the frescos of the two ancient Southern Italian locations.
