A deep blue to navy wool set-up with a quiet, understated presence.
Under natural light, a subtle inky blue tone gently emerges, giving the piece a calm but unmistakable character. Based on the stamp found on the hem lining, the fabric is vintage TOSHI TEX “ALL WOOL” cloth.
This was a pure wool suiting fabric produced by a Japanese textile maker during the postwar to Showa period, including for export use, and the “ALL WOOL” marking indicates 100% wool rather than regenerated fiber. The hand feel is slightly dry with a smooth surface, offering a restrained sheen and a clean, elegant drape.
Estimated to be Japanese tailored work from around the 1960s–1980s.
This piece was tailored within a family lineage connected to Kobe’s tailoring culture.
It comes from the legacy of a menswear atelier once run by the seller’s great-grandfather, and was worn for many years by her grandfather, a Japanese scientist known for first identifying cyclodextrin.
