A Menswear Grail: Coveted Rare $11,000 w/tax TOM FORD Black Shearling Biker Jacket, Made In Italy, Godly Details (tailored to perfection, a significant investment)

TOM FORD outerwear is Godly! Especially this coveted rare black shearling biker jacket. Selling this for a friend, but I have it as well and it’s a favorite I’ll never part with. It’s the ideal blend of a black biker shearling you could picture Steve McQueen wearing (see reference) and ultra-luxe aviator style.

The details throughout on this are just unreal:
– The signature leather Tom Ford grab handle on the back of the neck (my favorite design element I always look for and looks amazing with the collar up in back a bit like Tom styles them on the website)
– The tonal black leather sections througout
– The gleaming chunky Tom Ford double zips
– The branded metal Tom Ford snaps and tab closure at the neck
– The tonal leather TF branded zipper pull
– The black leather placket notch at the base of the main zip
– And the layered leather snap pockets in front with matching sections underneath and at the base of the sleeves. Tom Ford is all about the little details and it shows!

Shearling jackets are one of the coolest, most time-tested looks out there – worn by a “who’s who” of A-List style icons regularly featured in GQ, Esquire, MR PORTER and similar. I’m shocked more guys don’t have them in their arsenal. Every time I wear them I receive compliments, especially from women! I think most guys are under the mistaken impression they are only for Siberian / Antarctic climates (I wear them here in So Cal all the time – most the year round, and most evenings it’s cool enough).

TAILORING NOTE (WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN THIS ONE IF YOU’RE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS PIECE)

This is a size 52 IT, but comparing it to my size 50 IT, there is barely any difference! Everything is exactly the same except this is a mere .5 inches wider in the chest. There’s one reason you should go for this one vs any other out there you might find…see below!

Please note: In real life the fit on these is pretty exaggerated despite the cool model shots on the websites (see reference). I sold this to my friend who is only parting with it due to a recent grail watch acquisition (that and he already has a huge collection and doesn’t feel he’d wear this as much in So Cal, though I wear mine here often in the evenings).

I had my top tailor with decades of experience working on elite brands in Beverly Hills tailor this fit to perfection. It was a significant investment of $500 – if you could even find someone with the skills to do this! It turned out amazing though as you can see! I wish I had some before photos, but she took a couple inches out of the widths of the sleeves and shortened them a couple inches (they were very wide and comically long almost covering my fingertips – now they hit at the wrist just like the official TF website photos).

You can see the quality of the work she did in the close up photos (I also included one of the sleeve inside-out, so you can see the interior). Now this looks more like the official TOM FORD lookbook photos and fits; it’s a massive difference you can both see and feel!

I'm 6 feet, 192lbs for fit pic reference. I'm typically a comfortable size 50 EU (40 US) and fitted 48 (38 US). My tailor said I’m a natural 21 inch chest, 18 inch shoulder and 25 inch shoulder-to-wrist for fit pic reference. This is a size 52 IT per the tailoring note above. See below for measurements.
