A true formalwear piece with quiet authority: a Japanese vintage morning dress set, tailored in 1970 by Ikeda Tailor Shop in Kobe.

This set was made by the seller’s great-grandfather — a tailor who ran Ikeda Tailor Shop — for his son-in-law (the seller’s grandfather) on the occasion of his daughter’s wedding. It was later worn again for university and other ceremonial events, then carefully stored in the family wardrobe.

Fabric & construction

The morning coat is made from doeskin wool — densely woven, smooth, and matte, traditionally used for formal wear.
Both the inner facing of the morning coat and the vest lining are silk, reflecting the proper etiquette and comfort of classic morning dress.

What makes this set special

It includes two spare striped trousers, both made with Miyuki Keori cloth.
The waists are 87 cm and 96 cm, so you can choose the fit (or allow for day-to-day comfort changes). Both are included as part of the set.
