Chester Barrie was an excellent English tailor workshop which produced classic, handcrafted clothing. The quality was on par with Savile Row tailors, but instead of taking custom orders, CB sold ready-to-wear garments. Today, Brioni and Kiton are examples of manufacturers of the same caliber.
This is a very English jacket made of sturdy tweed. It was made for the English clothing company Austin Reed and is vintage.
Size 41L, which corresponds to an EU size 51 long. It would fit someone who wears a long size 50 best, and the sleeves can be shortened if needed.
The fabric is in excellent condition: no holes, scratches, or stains. However, the jacket has a storage room odor, so it needs dry cleaning. The lining has come undone in one spot and can easily be repaired by a seamstress. The edge of the inner breast pocket shows signs of wear, which can be repaired. These imperfections have been factored into the price.
This jacket features:
Strong shoulder construction
Flat pockets
vents at the back
Horn buttons
A ticket pocket
The jacket's interior has a full canvas structure that helps maintain the garment's shape and allows perspiration to evaporate.
The fabric is 100% thick, durable, slightly textured virgin wool. A beautiful light brown fabric, woven from multicolored threads.
A similar jacket would have cost approximately €1,400 new.
Exact measurements:
From shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 47 cm
From shoulder seam to cuff: 67 cm
From armpit to armpit: 55 cm
From below neckline to hem: 81 cm
Waist circumference: 108 cm
