Giovanni Mattina was a Neapolitan tailor whose craftsmanship was a testament to his skill. However, his company label is not sewn onto this jacket, as the previous owner disliked logos.
This is a dark blue Neapolitan coat, distinguished by the richness and fineness of its handwork.
It best fits a man with a size 50 and a bit of a belly. The jacket has generous seam allowances, making alterations easy.
Responsibly made in Naples.
The jacket's interior has a full canvas structure for comfort and breathability.
Excellent condition: no holes, abrasions, stains, or odors.
The jacket features unstructured shoulders and the rare spalla camicia sleeve. The upper part of the sleeve is gathered under the shoulder, creating small, decorative pleats—a detail admired by connoisseurs of Italian tailoring.
The jacket also has patch pockets, back vents, functional buttonholes on the sleeves, hand-stitched decorative seams throughout, a hand-sewn lining, and well-cut notched lapels. Unusually, the seams are double-sewn, rather than the usual single row of stitches.
The fabric is 100% Tasmanian summer wool, Super 120 grade, woven by the Zegna mill. It is a very smooth, soft, and fine material with a windowpane pattern.
Exact measurements:
From shoulder seam to shoulder: 48 cm
From shoulder to cuff: 65 cm
From armpit to armpit: 57 cm
From neck to hem: 77 cm
Waist circumference: 116 cm
A similar jacket from this tailor cost approximately €2000 when new.
