A quiet, mid-century overcoat cut in inky black serge – the kind of coat you throw on for cold morning trains and late-night walks home. The colour reads as a deep charcoal/black; in some light it leans slightly blue, but in person it’s much closer to black than navy.

Serge is a tightly woven twill cloth traditionally used for military uniforms and tailoring – smooth to the touch, with fine diagonal ribs that help it drape cleanly and resist wind. This one has that dry, wool-like hand you expect from good vintage cloth (fiber content not marked), structured enough to hold its line but soft enough to move with the body.

Inside, the coat is fully lined in a striped satin – muted wine and dark green tones – with an internal pocket finished under a buttoned flap. The original Ikeda Tailor Shop, Kobe label sits at the chest, and the hem is bound and taped by hand, showing the practical side of Japanese workshop tailoring.
