This indigo-dyed kasuri cotton kimono was made in Japan during the early to mid Showa era. The deep blue hues and intricate woven patterns reflect the refined techniques of traditional Japanese textile craftsmanship.

Now recognized as a prized piece of Japanese vintage, this kimono is appreciated worldwide not only as fashion but also as a material for remake and interior projects.

Originally crafted for a child, its compact size may still fit women or slender men, depending on body type. Whether worn as-is or repurposed as fabric, it offers remarkable creative potential for garments, bags, or accessories.

■Condition■

There is a tear of about 10cm (4 in) and other visible damage in some areas. Discoloration is present on the lining.
The garment retains strong odors due to long-term storage.

It appears to have had “koshi-age” (waist tuck) and “kata-age” (shoulder tuck)—traditional hand-stitched alterations commonly made to children’s kimono to allow adjustment as they grow. These leave faint creases visible on the fabric.

This piece has been washed twice, but some vintage-specific odors remain. We do not offer refunds or exchanges based on wear, damage, or scent that may emerge with washing or use after purchase. Please purchase only if you understand the nature of antique textiles.
