Best Dressed New Extremely Rare $5,700 w/tax BRETT JOHNSON Grey Suede Field Jacket, Made In Italy – TOM FORD, Brunello Cucinelli Aesthetic
As a longtime TOM FORD fan/collector, you’d be forgiven for mistaking these BRETT JOHNSON pieces for Tom’s work. Not to take anything away from the obviously talented Mr. Johnson, it’s actually one of the highest compliments I can give! A friend introduced me to the brand and immediately you see the same aesthetics, attention to detail, superior quality and workmanship – in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are produced in the same factory (we know Zegna has always produced the TF line).
Brett mentioned being inspired by taking trips to Italy with getting him into clothes/menswear, and the same thing happened to me. It’s inherently part of the culture – everywhere you look are impeccably dressed, stylish men that women swoon over. I wondered how Brett, as an independent American, was able to produce such an elite line. It seems his parents founded BET which likely helped with connections and start-up capital, but you can tell Brett’s talent shines regardless (actually I’m glad because having worked in the industry, I know how cutthroat it is and how many brands, even talented ones, don’t survive).
This stunning grey suede field jacket is impeccable and rewards those with an eye for detail everywhere you look! The retail prices on these are near TOM FORD prices, and you can see why. I love and appreciate the timelessness of these suede field jackets (always one of Tom Ford’s personal favorites and consistently among his most coveted pieces).
The details on this are Godly:
– Brett added a favorite option with the hidden inner drawstrings and stunning hardware to be able to perfect the silhouette!
– I have to give it to Brett, his stunning horn buttons are even better than Tom’s and perfectly complement the colorway.
– The tonal lining is one of the best I’ve seen.
– The intricate stitching across the back of the collar evokes Haider Ackermann (new creative director of Tom Ford) era Berluti.
– I love the covered flap zip pocket on the breast.
– The hand of this stunning, soft incredible suede.
– The layered placket with the horn buttons to fasten is a work of art.
It's 100% made in Italy unlike other elite brands that are merely doing minor finishing work to be able to claim this! Brett’s work exemplifies Tom’s quote below:
“Menswear is a detail-driven business” —Tom Ford
Selling this for a friend. I’m tempted to buy it but completely out of space since my fiance and her daughter moved in.
