Effortless Cool, $4,300 w/tax TOM FORD Camouflage Viscose / Leather Accents Jacket, Incredible Details – Made In Italy
This one is hard to part with, but I’ll let it go for the right buyer. TOM FORD has often integrated camouflage prints in his height of luxury pieces like this – it’s an ideal, masculine look you can dress up or down. Military aesthetics have made their way into all top designer collections for good reason, and it doesn’t get any better than in the hands of Tom Ford!
This style is one of Tom Ford’s personal favorites and he has repeatedly incorporated it in numerous versions across many seasons before he sold the company. It’s a timeless silhouette that’s inherently flattering (see reference).
Retail on this was $4,300 w/tax on this incredible viscose blend with leather accents and stunning horn buttons. Tom made an elevated nubuck version as well that retailed for over $8,000, but I actually prefer this one.
It features Tom’s signature details such as the leather icon patch behind the collar, and the Tom Ford double-zips with the leather TF pull. The fit is super flattering and looks particularly great with light layering underneath such as how they styled it in the ad campaigns. This is a can’t miss look that instantly elevates you in the tailoring and details.
Mr Tom Ford’s design philosophy is simple: don’t settle for anything less than perfection. And that maxim applies as much to a plain cotton T-shirt as it does a wool barathea tuxedo with all the trimmings. Achieving perfection, of course, is harder than it looks.
“Menswear is a detail-driven business”
This is perhaps the most Mr Tom Ford-esque of Mr Ford’s statements. Mr Ford’s dogged commitment to perfectionism is renowned. And details? Well, those are the things that keep said business running. Menswear, after all, has long been ruled by strict conventions, and there are only so many ways you can reinvent a button-down shirt or chinos. Instead, it’s those tiny tweaks and improvements – a mother-of-pearl button here, a well-placed pleat there – that sort the bog-standard from the superior.
I worked my way up to lines like Tom Ford and there’s just no substitute, from the fit and details. I’ve seen so many guys wearing cheap to mid-range versions that might look good from a distance, but fall apart up close. The best jackets just get better the closer you get and the details really come alive. It makes such a huge difference to your confidence, your overall demeanor and the attention/respect you attract. An investment like this is definitely worth the money.
