A-List Celebrity $1000 NEW TOM FORD Icon Denim Trucker Jacket, Incredible Wash/Details

Mr Tom Ford’s design philosophy is simple: don’t settle for anything less than perfection. And that maxim applies as much to a plain cotton T-shirt as it does a wool barathea tuxedo with all the trimmings. Achieving perfection, of course, is harder than it looks. 

“Menswear is a detail-driven business”

This is perhaps the most Mr Tom Ford-esque of Mr Ford’s statements. Mr Ford’s dogged commitment to perfectionism is renowned. And details? Well, those are the things that keep said business running. Menswear, after all, has long been ruled by strict conventions, and there are only so many ways you can reinvent a button-down shirt or chinos. Instead, it’s those tiny tweaks and improvements – a mother-of-pearl button here, a well-placed pleat there – that sort the bog-standard from the superior.

A good denim trucker jacket is one of the best time-tested essentials in your entire wardrobe. I worked my way up to lines like Tom Ford and there’s just no substitute. When you have such a time-tested overwhelmingly proven piece like this, an investment like this is worth the money (see reference of Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and Robert Redford; just some of many). This piece has been seen on pretty much every male celebrity style icon out there (see reference and there were many more I couldn’t fit). 

I have this in multiple colors, but you have to start with this as the all-time king. It’s NWOT as I have so many jackets I didn’t get around to wearing it yet, then thanks to the gym it’s just a touch small on me now and bought a size up.

While I’ve owned many high end jackets over the years, nothing else fits or feels like a Tom Ford: the fit through the body and shoulders creates that idealized masculine V-taper and the details are just jaw-dropping. There’s many TF versions out there, but this is best wash I’ve ever seen hitting that difficult just right balance of color and distressing. This is designed to fit like a glove with Tom’s signature cropped look sitting above the hips (eminently more flattering silhouette with a historical nod to the Newman, McQueen, Redford fits).
