ITEM OVERVIEW
Viberg occupies a position at the very apex of North
American boot making — and the Halkett is among the most
refined expressions of what the Victoria, BC workshop
produces. Where the Service Boot draws from rugged WWI
Canadian military workwear, the Halkett traces its
lineage to the dress boots worn by Canadian officers in
the 1940s — the distinction is immediately legible in
the silhouette: slimmer, more elongated, and
considerably more formal in bearing.

The 2020 last delivers one of Viberg's most anatomically
considered fits — almond toe, strong arch support, and a
heel cup that holds the foot with precision. Blind
eyelets and a cap toe keep the upper clean and
uncluttered, making this a boot that transitions
naturally from considered casual wear into tailored
contexts that the Service Boot cannot reach.

Leather quality is, as expected from Viberg, exceptional
— sourced from C.F. Stead and comparable French
tanneries, the calf presents with natural depth of
colour, refined grain, and the kind of surface that
responds beautifully to conditioning and long-term wear.
