1910s–1920s French wool trousers.

These trousers feature buttons stamped “Gerbeaud-Ducher,” seemingly associated with an established French tailoring house or supplier, along with a shop/tailor stamp on the reverse bearing the address rue Saint-Honoré. Together, these details strongly evoke French tailoring from the early 20th century through the interwar period.

The back features a cinch-back (buckle-back) fastening, a detail from the period before belt loops became the dominant design, while the front has a button fly.

The fabric has a distinctive twill texture somewhere between wool serge and gabardine, similar to materials often seen in sack suits and sack coats. They were likely intended to be worn as part of a matching suit.

Among French vintage trousers, examples retaining both their original trade-name buttons and tailoring stamps are surprisingly difficult to find. A particularly interesting piece for collectors.
