Item: Burton Analog x Hiroshi Fujiwara x Acronym 'Q' Jacket, 2001, Size M
Condition: Good condition with minor signs of wear
The Burton Analog x Hiroshi Fujiwara x Acronym 'Q' Jacket from 2001 is a rare archive piece situated at the intersection of snowboarding, streetwear, and techwear history. Analog, a division of Burton Snowboards founded in 2001 by Burton's Chief Creative Officer Greg Dacyshyn and Burton rider Jeff Anderson, pursued an experimental, technical approach to snow gear. The 'Q' jacket emerged from a collaboration between Burton and Hiroshi Fujiwara's 'Electric Cottage' (now 'Fragment') — designed by Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher (ACRONYM), who at the time were operating as an independent design firm providing forward-thinking technical designs to brands like Burton.
The jacket's central feature is its chest pocket construction: ten pockets in total, all different sizes and shapes, which can be concealed or revealed as desired. A flap can be zipped closed or tucked underneath the pocket area and held in place by a magnet system. According to Fujiwara in an interview with Relax Magazine (2002), the idea originally came from a certain anime character — specifically the way all sorts of decorations appeared when he dramatically opened his jacket — a concept the Acronym team was able to make a reality. Further details such as zip closures on the sides and under the arms allow for ventilation and conceal additional hidden pockets within the side pockets; on the interior, a 'breath control when shooting' scale perfectly represents the stealthy militaristic design ethos of the Analog brand.
Condition notes: The piece presents in good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. All functional elements zippers, magnetic closure, pocket construction remain intact. The jacket is a collectible example of the early techwear era and the collaboration between Burton, Fujiwara, and Acronym.
