Seller Description
Incredibly special piece of sailing and Prada history. Leading up to the 2000 America’s Cup in Auckland, the Prada Luna Rossa yacht syndicate was wearing red Musto Yachting gear. Seen during training in Punta Ala and at the 1998 Road to the America’s Cup regatta in Auckland aboard ITA45 and ITA48, they belong to the earliest chapter of Luna Rossa’s legendary campaign. These red jackets and spraytops effectively served as the blueprint for the later grey Prada Luna Rossa sailing gear. As such, they represent the original design lineage and visual identity from which the celebrated Luna Rossa team apparel evolved.
What makes this example even more exceptional is that it was personally owned by Francesco De Angelis, Luna Rossa’s helmsman and skipper during the 2000 and 2003 America’s Cup campaigns. Its provenance is confirmed by the handwritten number 9 still visible inside the jacket.
