Carpe Diem S21M Horse Destroyed Leather Back-Zip Boots – Original Maurizio Altieri Era – US 7

Rare original-era Carpe Diem S21M back-zip boots from the period when the brand was led by its founder, Maurizio Altieri. These are original archival pieces, not from the later revived line.

Carpe Diem was one of the pioneering labels of Italian avant-garde fashion, known for its experimental leather treatments, anatomical designs and exceptional artisanal craftsmanship.

Crafted from Horse Destroyed Leather, featuring a distinctive cracked and distressed texture. This is an intentional leather treatment, not a defect.

The boots feature an elegant, slightly upturned toe, an exceptionally low instep, Riri back zippers and leather soles. Fully leather-lined with exceptionally soft, fine leather.

The irregular black marks around the inner shaft opening is part of the original hand-dyeing and leather treatment process.

Purchased almost two decades ago from Maxfield in Los Angeles for over US$1,400.

They have never been worn because they were too tight across my wife’s high instep. Reluctantly selling.

Size 7 is stamped on the sole. EU sizing is an approximate conversion based on comparable archival S21M listings.
