Studio Jacket in Rust Melton from William Frederick (in NYC)

A boxy, slightly cropped studio jacket from an earlier William Frederick season — a silhouette the brand hasn't returned to as often in recent collections (unfortunate imo... this silhouette holds up very well). Cut generously through the body, with raglan sleeves that open up the range of movement and a squared hem that grounds the otherwise easy shape with a bit of quiet formality. Fully lined in brushed cotton twill, for a smoother hand against the skin and easier layering for the colder months.

Made from a heavyweight 14oz melton wool fabric woven in Italy, dense and substantial with a soft, brushed face. The rust colorway sits between a burnt orange and a deep iron red depending on the light, warmer and more orange in direct sun, closer to a true rust indoors. Two large front patch pockets and an interior patch pocket close with dark brown corozo buttons; the main closure runs larger corozo buttons under a hidden placket, with the top button left exposed so can act as a beautiful hinge when wearing the jacket open.

Only tried on indoors, in size S. An excellent cold-weather piece with pop of color.
