Every Vineyard Vines piece starts with the same story: on July 3, 1998, brothers Shep and Ian Murray quit their New York desk jobs, drove to Martha's Vineyard, and started selling neckties out of a backpack — $8,000 in credit-card debt, 800 ties sold in a single July weekend. The pink whale and "Every day should feel this good" grew from that summer into a privately owned American institution.
