This is a direct legacy from the eponymous founder, who notoriously rejected the spotlight, Martin Margiela. To date, most outsiders do not know what the designer looks like. Since leaving the label in 2009, Margiela's heritage has continued his approach to design, (despite a shortening of the labels name to “Maison Margiela” dropping his first name “Martin”), marketing techniques and brand philosophy under the artistic direction of John Galliano.
