Seller Description
Amazing 'Factory Jacket' from Nicholas Daley's AW18 collection, 'Red Clay'.
It is 100% wool which is not at all itchy to the touch (I was worried that it being unlined would mean it would be itchy but it isn't. It's thick woven tweed and the herringbone and type of wool gives a soft finish.
The colour on the tag is described as 'navy and yellow' but it looks black to my eye. The pockets and elbow pads are in a waxed cotton.
There are ties on the side of the body to loosen the silhouette a little (though they do not 'open'; they are like a big box pleat—you won't be getting a draft).
Nicholas Daley has always striven to maintain connections with British manufacturing and this jacket is made from a bespoke herringbone tweed Daley developed with the Scottish mill Lovat ("widely recognised as the birthplace of tweed").
There is an interview online on Freunde von Freunden in which you can see pictures of the jacket being worked upon at the time.
The collection Red Clay focussed, accordingly to the press release, "on the alternate history of tweed and its assimilation into jazz culture."
