Seller Description
These vintage West German military wool cargo trousers date to 1961 and were part of the early Bundeswehr “Kampfanzug jagdmeliert,” the yellow-olive field uniform introduced around 1959 during the first years of the Cold War. Made from a heavy wool-rich fabric, the uniform became infamous among soldiers as the “Filzlaus” (“felt louse”) because its coarse material and inner membrane could feel scratchy and make noise while moving; it was eventually replaced by the more comfortable cotton Moleskin field uniform in the mid-1960s. What makes this pair especially identifiable is the original W. Schwarz, Hückelhoven label: surviving collector records document W. Schwarz trousers from 7/61, matching this tag, while 182/78–82 indicates the military sizing and 8405-12-130-5790 is the German military stock number. With their substantial wool construction, utilitarian cargo detailing and unmistakably early-Bundeswehr cut, these are a genuine piece of postwar West German military history, produced only a few years after the Bundeswehr itself was established.
