The Rick Owens V Tommy T from SS26 Temple in Milk Wash feels like Rick reducing his entire language down to its most primitive elements: body, volume, decay and light. The enormous V-neck and dropped shoulders let the shirt collapse around the wearer, while the semi-transparent cotton gauze has a washed, almost exhausted quality, as though a once-white garment has already lived through something. The V Tommy is intentionally jumbo and below the hip, with Rick’s signature level shoulder seams and raw edges.

Milk Wash is what makes this one special. Rick’s black can feel like armor, but this pale, dirty white does the opposite. It exposes. It feels like bone, old plaster, dust-covered marble, the remnants of something once monumental. That is almost uncannily appropriate for Temple, a collection Rick framed around his Temple of Love retrospective and the uncomfortable ideas that come with looking back at your own life: “peaking, finality and decline.”

There is something almost religious about it. The silhouette is monumental, but the fabric looks like it could disappear. A temple built from something already turning to dust.
