Helmut Lang's Autumn/Winter 1999 collection looked to NASA equipment and motorcycle gear, translating protective clothing into precise tailoring and utility pieces. The Astro biker pants sit at the center of that season: a slim moto silhouette with padded knee construction taken from racing wear. Lang produced the model in several materials over the season, among them heavy cotton, moleskin, coated denim and leather.
