Handwoven Silk

The fabric is traditionally woven by hand on manual looms. This slow artisanal process gives the textile its distinctive character and makes every piece unique. Here, the silk is woven as organza, creating a lightweight, airy and noticeably sheer fabric.

Wild Tussar Silk

Tussar silk comes from wild silkworms rather than conventionally farmed silkworms. When woven into organza, the fiber becomes light and ethereal while retaining the distinctive natural texture associated with Tussar silk.

Hand-Painted Kalamkari Art

The design is painted freehand using a kalam, the traditional bamboo pen, with natural pigments of plant and mineral origin. Kalamkari is an ancient Indian textile-painting tradition passed down through generations of artisans.

Artisanal Uniqueness

Small variations in color, brushwork, smudges and irregularities are natural characteristics of the handmade process. Each shirt carries the individual marks of the artisan who painted it, making every piece truly unique.

A Note on Traditional Kalamkari

As part of the traditional Kalamkari process, the fabric is treated with buffalo milk to help fix the natural pigments. This may leave a subtle residual scent. The shirt has been hand-washed, although a faint scent may still be noticeable.
