The FOTI by Chrome Hearts collaboration traces back to artist Joe Foti, who joined Chrome Hearts in 1990 to oversee its Art & Science Division and later spent several years working with Chrome Hearts Japan. In 2002, while preparing his Tokyo exhibition Fisting Scars, Foti created a group of strange, skeletal characters simply to decorate the display cases; after visitors immediately began asking to buy them, Chrome Hearts founder Richard Stark suggested bringing the figures back to Los Angeles and developing them into a proper line. That experiment evolved into FOTI by Chrome Hearts, officially emerging in the early 2000s and eventually expanding into a universe of 12 distinct characters, each with its own personality and story, appearing across sterling-silver jewelry, T-shirts, hoodies, accessories, and other objects. Unlike Chrome Hearts’ traditionally aggressive gothic imagery, Foti’s skull-like creatures bring a darker but deliberately humorous and eccentric quality to the brand, making FOTI one of the most recognizable and unconventional sub-lines in Chrome Hearts history.
