Kiri Okuyama and Arata Iura started Revolver in 1998 with a vision of combining their experiences as well as their taste in musical roots & clothing. Birthed out of the Harajuku scene in the late 90’s Revolver was considered under the radar as far as brands go at the time. Kiri’s interest in fashion started in Paris when he was only 17 years old; seeing the different elements of street style & high fashion every day, he became inspired by the surroundings of Parisian life. Fast forward 3 years later, Kiri unknowingly started his career by designing some t-shirts for fun, which ended up selling incredibly well. From here, he knew his vision had a platform to be successful & started brainstorming his brand name. Kiri had always been obsessed with the Beatles growing up specifically the album ‘Revolver’. Years later he became reconnected with the word from being a fan of Rage Against the Machine following their release entitled ‘Revolver’ & the aggressive nature it portrayed. At the time, not knowing what the word actually meant it wasn’t until he looked it up after registering it as a trademark that he realized it didn’t resemble the Beatles in the slightest. Ultimately it became ironic because his brand was going to be slightly on the aggressive side, often incorporating AK-47’s & camoflauge prints on his clothing.

Kiri’s design process is all about taking the silhouettes/cuts of streetwear & coherently mixing them with the craftsmanship of high fashion garments without looking out of place. A true reflection of his passive & aggressive mix of music taste all Revolving around the word Revolver.
