This collaboration was the first Japanese artist chosen for Comme des Garcons annual direct-mail catalogue, in which the brand collaborates with a chosen artist to provide artwork.

Otomo Katsuhiro is best known for his 1982 manga AKIRA and the 1988 anime adaptation.
