By 1965, Carlo and Gilberto came on to help grow the operation and the family was able to open its own factory. The brand was known for its bold advertising, tackling issues such as racism and religious oppression in print ads that had little to do with its clothing. On the clothing side, Benetton was known for colorful, easy-to-wear products like sweaters and T-shirts. The brand was particularly popular in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
