Tommy Hilfiger

Founded in 1984 and similar to his contemporaries like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger’s goal was to offer quality clothing at an accessible price with a distinctly “American” perspective on style. Hilfiger’s eponymous brand rose to popularity in the ’90s. Black culture embraced the brand and music icons like Aaliyah, Beyoncé and many others began to sport head to toe Hilfiger looks. The brand dipped in popularity throughout the 2000s but in recent years surged in popularity both as a nostalgic vintage brand and through runway collaborations with names like Gigi Hadid and Zendaya. Tommy Hilfiger’s comeback has also been accented by collaborations with modern popular brands such as Kith and Vetements.
