Paco Rabanne

Paco Rabanne

Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo, better known as Paco Rabanne, founded his namesake label in 1966. The Spanish designer lost his father at an early age to violence by the Spanish dictator, while his mother was a chief seamstress for Cristobal Balenciaga. After Balenciaga moved his house from the Basque Country to Paris, the Rabannes moved with him, allowing Paco Rabanne to see the operations and skills required to run a successful fashion house from up close.

After stints as a jewelry designer for Givenchy, Dior, and Balenciaga, Rabanne founded his own label in 1966. Immediately considered the enfant terrible of the fashion world, Rabanne used unconventional materials like metal and plastic to make his creations. The designer died in 2023 at age 88, but his legacy lives on through the popular Paco Rabanne perfumes, such as 1 Million and Invictus, as well as the vintage grails available in this collection.
